Could Your Next Mammogram Detect a Future Heart Problem?
If you’re scheduled for a routine mammogram or are making an appointment soon, you may be able to participate in a new research study at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. The study is examining if there is a link between breast artery calcification and coronary artery disease. To learn more about the study and find out how to be a participant, call 610-402-CARE.
ATVs Are Not Toys
Serious injuries and deaths caused by all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) increased for the sixth straight year in 2005. “Children under 16 should not drive or ride on ATVs,” says Kelly Costello, M.D., pediatrician at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. “They lack the strength, coordination and judgment to handle vehicles designed for adults, and can suffer severe brain, spinal and other injuries.” ATV riding can be risky for those over age 16 as well. Safety experts advise getting trained, always wearing a helmet, not taking passengers, not driving on paved roads, and not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Learn more by calling 610-402-CARE.
